Special Note on Hut Access

Access to all the huts is people powered only, so there’s no way to drive to any hut. You’ll drive as far as the trailhead, but then hike, bike, ski, paddle, or snowshoe into the hut. Remember that it can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours to travel to the hut from the trailhead, depending on your itinerary.

Above are choices between Winter and Summer trailheads. There are a few differences in access for some of the trails. All trailhead directions originate from the Maine Huts & Trails office, click here for directions to office*. (*Note: Click "Get Directions" in the upper left-hand corner and then enter your starting address.)
