Woliwoni (thanks) for the post about us. We had a great time, great food, great hospitality, great scenery, and great snow (considering the ground was bare 2 days before our arrival. You and the rest of the staff make the Hut the perfect place to be for a winter writing retreat with youth.

I noticed you posted a strawberry streusel recipe. Was wondering if Tim would share the chowder recipe (seasoned with rosemary). That was so delicious and I know one of the girls would love to pass that recipe on to her mom.

Hoping for lots of snow to enjoy, and more trips to the Hut. Woliwoni!

Please edit my previous comment: "It has been unanimously agreed that ......
also I left out an "A" before the hearty dinner. My English teacher dad would be so dispointed with my proof reading!

My husband & I established a new tradition this year! Our five children are growing up and out of the home so we decided to give a gift that would bring us together for an adventure. We want to simplify and avoid the trappings and wrappings of a commercial Christmas. Since our daughter Lauren lives in S.Carolina and had to return before Christmas, we booked a night 12/18 at Flagstaff hut.
What a great time we had! The hike in was fun and easy enough for our youngest daughter (age 11) as well as the eldest (52 with knee problems). We were welcomed by the hut staff who made our stay so relaxing by preparing and serving a hearty dinner and breakfast. We hiked around the area and played games and shared conversation by the fire. It is unanimous that we'll return next year! If we can book when there is snow, we'll be staying 2 nights. We also plan to invite the families of our daughters spouses. The more, the merrier!
Thank you for a great destination and a green Christmas gift!

I'd like to purchase a night in one of your huts as a Christmas gift. What is the procedure for this?
Thank you, Mary Lyons

I won’t be able to thank you fully for the articles on your web-site. I know you’d put a lot of time and energy into all of them and hope you know how much I appreciate it. I hope I could do the same for someone else sometime.

Fabulous tips. Just wanted to add that drinking coconut water is a good way to stay hydrated since it is high in electrolytes. Also, I use trekking poles which help with stability and prevent falls.

My family goes camping every summer. As a mother, I make sure that everything is prepared for the trip. However, we can't really foresee what may happen when we get there, especially when safety of our family is in line. So, I was scanning through a few blogs and found this article on a Safety Service for my family. It seemed interesting so I checked it out on Facebook and actually got 15 days free. Here's the article: http://anationofmoms.com/2011/08/protect-your-family-giveaway.html

The river certainly seems to be part of daily life at the Grand Falls hut - wow! The changes of the season must be dramatic. We look forward to visiting in August. By then, your garden will feed us with tomatoes and cukes and herbs for our salads. Thanks for the nicely written post.

On Monday, July 4th, eight of us had the most enjoyable pontoon boat ride to/from Stratton to Flagstaff Hut. Jeff does a wonderful job sharing his knowledge of the history of the area and pointing out interesting facts along the way. Lunch was most enjoyable, as was the staff. Several of the men on the trip are builders so the tour of the facility and the quality of the work was apprectiated beyound the oh's and ah's of how beautiful it is. Being a hiker I had been into the Hut several times but this was an excellent way to share the experience with non-hikers. Ilse "Izzy" Mercier
