"The Natural Resources Council of Maine enthusiastically supports the hut and trail system and is especially interested and optimistic about discussions with the Penobscot Indian Nation about locating a portion of the trail and one of the huts on their land (south of the Bigelow Preserve). NRCM will maintain an interest in the process and continue discussions with the Western Mountains Foundation and the Bureau of Parks and Lands regarding impacts on the Bigelow Preserve.“
