Named “Best Lake Lodging” by Yankee Magazine Editors’ Choice (April 2011) and named one of “The Best Winter Adventure Lodges” by Outside Magazine (January 2009), this hut is located on the sandy east shore of Flagstaff Lake and is a year-round favorite of outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. The east end of the lake is undeveloped, and across the lake are fantastic views of Bigelow Mountain. The lake is fantastic for swimming in the summer and skiing along the shore in the winter. Flagstaff can be reached on foot, or with mountain bikes, skis, or snowshoes.  Upon arrival, members will also have access to  canoes, kayaks, paddles and pfds.  This hut is also perfect for families interested in paddling to the hut from one of the lake’s boat launches; Maine Huts & Trails works with local river outfitters to supply equipment and offers raft and hike packages.

Construction of Flagstaff Lake Hut was made possible through generous gifts from L.L. Bean, Inc. and Leon and Lisa Gorman.
Flagstaff Lake Hut is an ideal base camp for summer activities and is an ideal starting point for a multiday hut-to-hut excursion to Poplar Falls or the remote Grand Falls Hut.
