Sited along Poplar Stream above the magnificent Poplar Stream Falls, this facility is 2.5 miles on the Maine Hut Trail from the Gauge Rd. Trailhead in Carrabassett Valley and an 8.5 mile hike, ski or ride from the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. This site is accessible on foot or with mountain bikes, skis or snowshoes. Wildlife abounds in the stream and wetlands regions adjacent to this site and the trails. Poplar Stream offers exceptional fishing for native brook trout. Ski or hike in for lunch or use Poplar Stream Hut as the staging hut for a multi-day hut-to-hut excursion to all three huts.
